According to Guinness World Records, in 1952, a 13.84 lb gallstone (6.29 kg) was removed from an 80-year old woman in London. Can you imagine? That’s a bowling ball under your ribcage. It goes to show that while gallstone flushes are often recommended, there are always exceptions. Does anyone have other large and/or heavy gallstone or otherwise shocking gallstone stories?

  1. My 95 year old father had a 3″ X 2″ diameter gallstone removed today. It pressed against his liver causing a localized necrosis, so he will be on antibiotics.
